Why are credit and debit card payments not available in my online store's checkout?

After observing a large decline in conversion rates on my store a few days ago, I discovered that many of my customers are reaching the payment area of checkout only to be greeted with the message: "Credit and debit card payments aren't available right now." Paypal appears to be functional, although the majority of my purchases are made with regular credit/debit cards.


I repeated the checkout routine using various browsers, internet networks, and devices and received the error prompt each time. I've attached some screenshots. This is currently harming my business, and I can't figure out how to solve it. I haven't altered anything in my checkout flow in the last several days, so I'm not sure what the trigger was.


Any assistance is appreciated.

I definitely understand the urgency here and this could be very well related to an issue you are having with your payment gateway. If you head over to your Shopify Admin > Settings > Payments, do you see any alerts or notices? If so, you will want to ensure that you resolve any outstanding issues with the payment provider.
