Why are my online store payouts still pending?

Why are my online store payouts still pending?

Hello, I have just launched my online store and sold multiple items. I have received money in my paypal from these sales but have over $500 in my payout section because the charge is pending. Is there any reason why it is pending ? I don’t print shipping labels as I ship 80% of them locally. Wondering if this has anything to do with it or if I just have to wait for the money to transfer.

Hi, @jacobgeorggi!

Welcome to Shopify Community. My name is Olivia and I work here.

Thanks for sharing your question with our network. I'm hoping it's safe to assume you are using Shopify Payments and referring to payouts through our in-house gateway.

The All payouts section lists all of your payouts and their current status, described in the getting paid with Shopify Payments doc:

  • In Transit: The payout is in the process of being sent to your bank account.
  • Paid: The payout was sent to your bank. This does not mean that you have the funds in your bank account. Your bank might still need to process and deposit the funds into your account.
  • Failed: Your bank failed to successfully process the payout so the funds were not deposited.

Since your question was posted during the holidays, your payout could have been delayed by bank transfer times and changes in business hours. You should see that your pending payout will change to "in-transit" during business hours once your payout date is reached.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns with this and I'd be glad to chat further.

Warm regards,

Olivia | Social Care @ Shopify

I am facing the same issue. Not sure what I should do. Any tips??
Any luck for you?

Thank you for joining our thread, @SameeRehman!

In addition to the new comments on this thread, I want to clarify if the pending payouts issue is occurring on Shopify Payments or another gateway?

Furthermore, if this is the first expected payout then you may experience delays with bank processing times to account for the first deposit and any time zone challenges or local holidays.

If this issue is occurring on PayPal then it can be caused an unverified PayPal account at the time of order creation. This can be resolved by confirming your account information with PayPal and allow 48 hours for the deposit to occur.

Please let me know if I have missed or misunderstood anything and I'd be glad to assist.

Warm regards,

Olivia | Social Care @ Shopify

Hi Olivia,

We are facing the same issue. We received the first order on 12/8 - more than 2 weeks now and we haven't received any payout yet. It is still pending and there is no payout date. It's via Shopify payments.

Thanks for reaching out with that context, @Barbora!

This certainly sounds like there is more to the issue than simple processing times. Since each account is different and there are various reasons to cause a payment to be stuck in pending, I encourage you to connect with our Live Team at your earliest convenience.

We look forward to supporting you,

Hi, again!

I'm just updating this thread on behalf of Shopify Support as it has come to my attention that Stripe has made some recent changes impacting Shopify Payment payout times for first-time users.

New accounts can expect to experience a longer wait period for their first payout, which can be anywhere from 7-14 business days. I trust this addresses any concerns for new sign-ups and users to our platform.

Warm regards,

Hi Olivia

My 3 first payouts are also still on the status "Pending" even tho the transactions were on 29. of July and 3 and 6 of august this year. I am using shopify payments. This is very inconvenient.

regards Philipp

Hello to our new users!

Thank you to both, @PhilippWeber and @QuirkyChaos, for reaching out and describing your situation further.

As our Public Support team is limited with being able to look into specific accounts, the information I can provide here is generalized and may not fit everyone's unique situation.

For any pending payouts beyond the expected threshold it's imperative to connect with our Live Team to start an investigation. In most cases there will be a simple fix or you will find there are already communications in your email inbox to describe any changes - for us to be sure please connect with us.

We look forward to supporting you,

Olivia | Social Care @ Shopify

I had the same issue. Once 2FA was switched on it instantly generated a payment date.

U get your payout after?

SCIRE_Tech

It currently has a status of "In Transit" with a payment date of tomorrow so it is looking positive. Much slower than I thought the process would be though.

Just as a quick update. I have now received the money into my bank account, so the issue was completely related to not having 2FA setup.

You goto Settings>Users and Permissions then select the Store owner account. The option is in there.  I use Google Authenticator

Thanks, i activated two step authentication earlier today, yet the payment is still pending and there is still no Payout date, way there a delay for yours?

SCIRE_Tech

No, mine instantly had a payout date added. However I was on a chat with a Shopify customer service person at the time so I don't know if they did anything in the background to speed the process up.  Just another note, after I got a payout date, that was the date they administered the payment, not when to actually receive the funds. That occurred a few days after the payment date.

Got it, thanks for the information.

Hello Shopify Team,

I was created a shopify store on dated 19/10/2023. I submit my bank account statement and my government issued ID card for documents required two times. But my pay out still pending. I made sale 1695 GBP in last 5 days. But I much worried about this. I talk to advisor 3 times but they are also not confirm what going on. Poor advisor service.
I already ship all the orders and its seems I lose huge money. Please any one here to guide me how to solve this issue.
