Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hello,
I received an email that said that if I do not set up Shopify Payments today, then my store will not be able to accept credit card payments.
I am trying to set up Shopify payments, and a message comes up saying that Shopify Payments can not be activated because:
1. Name has already been taken.
2. You must disable Shopify Payments to use this provider.
Obviously the second point makes no sense, and I'm not sure about the first one.
I should not that I am in Canada, and therefore I know that Shopify Payments is available to me.
Can someone please help me? I am worried that if I don't get this done, I will never be able to accept card payments.
Thank you for your help and your time,
Kallinka Outlet
Hi there!
Thanks for your question. We definitely want to get you up and running here.
Can you clarify, have you ever had any payment gateways enabled on your store? Will this be your first? When did you create your store?
Because it sounds like you're not yet able to accept credit card payments at all, I will encourage you to reach out to our live support team (via our Help Center) for more urgent assistance. From this page you can log in to your store, enter a topic into the search field, then choose Get support. Please let me know if you run into any challenges getting in touch!

Hello June,
Thank you so much for your help.
I believe I have PayPal enabled, my store is maybe a week old. I put through a few "test" payments on my own debit card, but the money is still on hold.
Other than that, when I try to enable Shopify Payments that pop-up comes up.
I can't see to find anything useful to me in the help centre.
Thank you so much for your help!
Kellina
Hi Kellina, thanks for clarifying!
I'd love to take a look at the pop-up you're seeing, since it does sound like you're in the process of setting up Shopify Payments for the first time. Rather than ask you to share screenshots here, you can follow the steps above to connect with our support team via either live chat or callback. Please let me know if you have any trouble getting in touch.
When it comes to testing your payment gateways, I do recommend these two resources:
Note: As soon as your Shopify Payments account is activated, you can make use of "test mode" to place test orders - this is also great for familiarizing yourself with your fulfillment workflow! You can test PayPal as soon as you've selected a plan.
