Why can't I complete my purchase due to a test payment gateway?

I am trying to purchase an item from a shopify store, however at the payment details it says something about a test payment gateway. I’m assuming that this is something that the merchant was supposed to have done to start accepting payments? There are no contact details for the merchant. Can someone please point me in the right direction on how I can try to complete this purchase.

Hi @AlexisStubbs, thanks for reaching out to the Shopify Community.

 

It does sound like the store owner forgot to switch their payment gateway out of the testing mode, and you won't be able to complete the purchase until they are able to switch that back to capture payments. If the store has any contact information on their website, I would reach out to them and let them know you weren't able to complete your order and that the payment gateway is in test mode. If you're not able to find any contact information, please send the URL for the store and I can take a look for you.

Looking into that online store, I am unable to find a Contact Us page available - we are also unable to access any store or account specific information from the Community forums. In this case, if you are unable to successfully contact the business that you have made a purchase from. It would be best to speak with your bank or credit card company about the situation. They will be in the best position to provide you with further support in regards to the order you did not receive.
