Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
HI,
I want to test the payment system for my site, but I cannot find the button to enable test mode anywhere.
I have clicked the various manage buttons and scrolled up and down, but it is nowhere to be found.
I have even tested different browsers and via the ios app.
What am I doing wrong?

Hey @piquenique
You are very welcome here in the Shopify Community! I can see this is your first post - are you new to Shopify?
It looks like you are having some difficulty when trying to test payments on your store using Shopify Payments Test Mode - I'd be happy to help steer you in the right direction here!
What region are you located in? The reason I ask is because at the time of writing this, Shopify Payments Test mode is not supported for merchants in France, as outlined in our help document here. If you are not in France, then you should be able to enable test mode.
Testing your payment gateway is a really good idea, as it lets you simulate what the customer experiences, and allows you to identify any issues that could lead to abandoned carts. Just so you know, we have some helpful information on testing payments. Feel free to check out this YouTube video which outlines the process, and also this help center guide.
If you navigate to Settings > Payments you should see Shopify Payments listed there. Click the Manage button beside it, and scroll to the bottom of that settings page. You should see a section called Test Mode and a checkbox that you can click to enable it. Check that box, then click Save.
Let me know how that goes for you! As well as testing payments, there are some other things you can do before going live with your store. Feel free to use the following resources as guides:

Hi @lawnda
Thanks for reaching out here to let me know!
Can you confirm if you are using Shopify Payments, or are you using a different third party payment gateway? If you are using Shopify Payments - is your account set up in working order and able to accept regular (non test mode) payments on your store?
Also, were you able to follow my instructions and resources in my last reply to locate the Shopify Payments settings page where this test mode option should be located?
As I mentioned to @piquenique, Shopify Payments Test mode is not supported for merchants in France - so if you are located in France then you won't see test mode as an option.
Any more details you can provide about your specific situation will be very helpful for troubleshooting this. I look forward to hearing back from you!

Hi @Rick
I'm in Saudi Arabia so, i'm not able to use Shopify Payments. and I use a third party payment gateway.
Yes, I followed your instructions and resources but I can't find the test mode.
Hi @lawnda
Thanks for confirming that you are located in Saudi Arabia and that you are not using Shopify Payments.
The instructions I mentioned above apply to Shopify Payments, so other third party payment gateways will most likely behave differently. It's possible that you can still turn on some sort of test mode on your gateway of choice, however I do not have exact information on that as those gateways are external to us.
It looks like there's quite a few different payment providers available to stores in Saudi Arabia which you can see a list of here. I would recommend reaching out to the third party provider directly and inquiring about placing test orders on their gateway.
If you simply wish to test your store with an order, then there are a few other options available to you which are outlined on this help doc here. You can try using the Shopify Bogus Gateway and using the test numbers outlined on that help center page. You could also place a real order on your store through your payment gateway, and then refund the order. Just keep in mind that you might be subject to fees from the third party payment processor and also credit card third-party transaction fees aren't returned to you when you issue a refund on Shopify.
I hope this helps! Separate to this are there any business goals you are working on at the moment? I'd love to help you find ways to grow your store!

Hi @Rick
I tested the payment by making a real purchase but...
When I contacted the payment gateway they told me that the last successful purchase (before my test purchase) was on August 30th! Knowing that I have not received any purchases from customers yet.
Today, I received a comment from someone in my account on social media says that he had paid a month ago and did not receive the product, I do not know if it is a fraud or if I have a problem in the store, how do I check that?
Thank You
Hi @lawnda
My apologies for the delay in replying to your followup message.
Thanks for providing me with that extra information about your payment gateway. It sounds like something isn't working quite right, because you placed a real order on your store using your payment gateway, and it isn't showing up on your account.
Can you confirm if the real test order is appearing in the Orders section of your Shopify admin? If so, then you can click into the specific order in question and scroll down to the Timeline section. Here you can view more details about the order, including the payment method used and transaction details. If there are errors with the payment gateway then you should be able to view them here.
Any issues with your specific third party gateway setup or queries about transactions on your account should ideally be directed towards the third party gateway support, so it would be a good idea to query your setup with them. However, if you believe there is an issue with the Shopify side of things then please feel free to reach out to our support team using this link here and we can take a closer look at your setup.
You mentioned that you received a comment from someone saying they did not receive their order, and you are wondering how to proceed. Is there any evidence of the order being placed on your store? You can check the Orders section of your admin, and also check your payment provider account to see if you have received any funds.
If you cannot locate any matching order, and have not received the funds then I would suggest not sending anything to this person, and instead informing them that the order most likely didn't go through properly and they should try placing it again. They can also check with their bank if they have any financial queries.
