Why can't I process payments from Kyrgyzstan for my drop shipping business?

Why can't I process payments from Kyrgyzstan for my drop shipping business?

I just made my first subscription payment and it turns out that not a single payment fulfillment company is will to take my project on. What am I doing wrong? I live in Kyrgyzstan and this is making me miserable. Could it be that I am a drop shipper? or maybe its the fact that my business is not registered? Could anyone provide some guidance?

Hey @Dusty3

I understand you are based in Kyrgyzstan and are having some trouble finding a payment gateway for your store. I am sorry to hear about that, I know it can be a frustrating time in some situations.

Each third party payment provider will have their own set of rules and regulations for their merchant accounts, so I cannot say for sure the exact reasons why they may have rejected you. They can often ask for business details and even request documents etc. Did they reach out to you with more information in an email perhaps?

There are a few options for payment providers in Kyrgyzstan which you can check out here. It looks like you have a couple to choose from - have you tried all of them already?

In this situation, I would advise reaching out to the third party payment provider directly, as they would be the best ones to deal with your questions. These gateways are external to us, and as such we have limited visibility. I found a link to 2Checkout Merchant Support here that you can use to speak to a support advisor over there. I would suggest asking them about opening an account, and the various requirements for using their gateway on Shopify.

You mentioned that you were dropshipping. Besides the payment gateway situation, how are you finding the setup of your store? I would recommend checking out our Ultimate Guide to Dropshipping here, as it contains loads of helpful information for starting a dropshipping store on Shopify. We also have this blog post which has a bunch of great tips, I'd recommend checking it out also!

Hi @Dusty3

It sounds like you have certainly had some difficulties to deal with there, I am sorry to hear about that.

When you were rejected by the payment providers, were you given any reasoning or information as to why you weren't considered eligible? Each provider will have their own eligibility criteria. Dropshipping businesses in general wouldn't necessarily be high risk, so I am curious as to why they may have rejected you.

I wonder if it would be possible for you to make some changes in order to align your applications with the payment gateway's terms of service? I understand you have been ignored by some of them, however perhaps trying to contact their live support teams might shed some more light on the situation?

You can certainly also accept cryptocurrency on your store, which we have a guide for here. However I do understand that you would most likely wish to have a card processing payment provider on your store too.

I have gone through every option in the payment list. Some of them ignored me and others instantly rejected me. The closest i've gotten was fasterpay, they dragged me along for two weeks saying, yes we can, and just dumped me after the credit card onboarding process started. 2checkout does not support dropshipping start ups and for some reason I feel like they would have found another reason later down the line. I've resorted to using only crypto payments, but that is another enormous headache. I've been recommended to open a bank account through an acquaintance in another country and use PayPal. I also thought about registering a business in Dubai or something but that can be expensive. I feel i only have one option, accept the $30 hit and look elsewhere.

I had the whole site set up within the free trail period and it was easy enough. I enjoy working with Shopify but what else can i do?

Thanks Ricky,
They were very vague about what it is exactly they didn't approve of.
Frankly speaking, I deal with a lot of difficulties operating out of my
country to begin with. I can definitely give it another try. Thanks for the
support.

Hello Dusty3!

Have you found any solution to this problem? I have the same problem as you with setting up payments in my Shopify store. I searched everywhere on the internet and couldn't find a solution to this problem. It seems to me that all payment methods that are available for Kyrgyzstan are actually not available at all 😞

Hey @Slear

I'd love to better understand what happened when you applied to the suggested payment gateways we have listed here: Shopify Payment Providers. Was there specific criteria your business needed to meet first, what was the reasons provided for a rejection of your applications? The more info you can share about this the better we can help you, and also help other merchants in the same situation.
