Why can't I reactivate Shopify Payments after being identified as high risk?

I can't use Shopify Payments anymore due to it being canceled. I sent the files in that were requested and was returned with this "Your business has been identified as presenting an elevated level of risk for customer disputes that we will be unable to support with Shopify Payments. ". I'm just an apparel store selling apparel and accessories and want to know if it's possible to reactivate Shopify Payments instead of going through a 3rd Party like Bankful.

Thanks! Sam.

It is something you would have to discuss directly with Shopify Payments support on whether they can reinstate the account.

As you said, connecting the  3rd party payment processor is usually the common alternative in case the business is not in-line with the default Shopify Payment ToS.

You can use third party payments processors such as Stripe, PayPal, Square and others easily.

Hi there @yandmapparel. I can definitely understand wanting to get to the bottom of this.

Has your store had chargebacks? This can be another reason for a store to be flagged. If you feel this decision has been made in error, I would advise replying to the email telling you the store presents this higher risk directly. This reply will go straight to our Risk team for review. I do wish to make it clear that a reply may or may not be possible from this team in this case, but replying to the email would be the best way to determine this.

I would advise you in this case to set up a third party payment gateway as soon as possible to ensure customers can still checkout. We have a list of the available gateways, categorised by country here. Please do let me know if you need any help in setting this up.
