Why can't I send an invoice to my new customer?

Hi all,

I am trying to create a draft invoice (this would be my 10th one I’m creating) and I keep getting an error message that says “Draft order couldn’t be created”. 

It’s a new customer but I have her address and email - what is the issue?

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I'm happy to provide some assistance with creating draft orders for the shop to get this resolved. I recommend checking out our Creating Draft Orders documentation for steps on how to successfully create orders on behalf of your customers. It outlines however:

 

  • From the Shopify admin, head to Orders > Draft
  • Select Create Order
  • Add products to the order.
  • Customize the order:
    • Add a customer.
    • Apply discounts.
    • Turn taxes on or off.
    • Add tags or a note. 
  • Do one of the following actions:
    • Send an invoice to the customer. By default, the invoice contains a link to a checkout that your customer can use to pay for the order.
    • Accept payment from the customer.
    • Save the order as a draft so that you can update it later from the drafts page.

 

If these steps have been followed to create the draft, I recommend attempting the outline troubleshooting steps below to ensure this isn't related to a local issue:

 

  • Clear the Cache and Cookies.  
  • Try on Another Web Browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) or an Incognito Window.
  • Ensure the web browser is Up To Date on the latest version (we don't support every browser).
  • Try Another Device such as another computer or a cellphone.
  • Try on the Shopify Mobile App.
  • Try Another Internet Connection (example, switch to a cellular network on a phone rather than wifi.)

 

If after attempting all of the steps mentioned above, the error persists please Contact Support to allow us to investigate further.

Same issue here...I've done all the things recommended and still nothing.  This is embarrassing for me and annoying for my customer.

I’m getting this same message. I tried on mobile and laptop with same error. I checked my account profile and it says my email is verified.

I am having the same issue now.  I have sent several invoices in the past with no problem and now it says this on every browser and device

Exactly  same issue. Shopify needs to resolve.  It worked in the past and I have sent 100s of invoices.  This is really  impacting my business

I talked to customer support and they had me go to settings —> notifications (under store settings —> and make sure your email address is verified on that page.

 

I had to resend verification to my email. Once this was completed I was able to send invoice like normal. Hope this helps!!

Mine is still verified I checked several times. I even tried to put the email in again but it wouldn’t let me because it was already in use.

This worked out. open the admin on desktop and you will see resend verification button.

im trying to manually create an invoice however im now getting this when im trying to review.

Invoice can't be sent from Info@consiliointeriors.com.au. Verify this email address and try again.

please assist asap

When I try to creat an invoice it says can’t send from email because it isn’t verified but it is , my secondary email also

I have found solution to this issue:

Go to Settings > Notificatons > under Sender email verify your email address.
