Why does my checkout page show 404 error?

When customer adds an item to cart, a blue pop-up comes up, with option to checkout or to continue shopping. If checkout is selected it goes to 404 PAGE NOT FOUND!


Does Shopify not offer telephone support anymore?


Can anyone help me?!

Thanks for bringing your question here to the Community forum. I completely understand resolving this issue. Let's get to the bottom of it together.


To gather more context, have you made any changes to your theme's coding? If so, it's possible that there is an issue with the theme. To test this, you can see if the same error occurs on a 'fresh theme.' To do so, you can go to Online Store > Themes > Theme Library. I then recommend downloading a free theme and testing if the same error occurs when accessing the cart and checkout through the theme editor. 


If everything works as expected on the fresh theme, then you can try rolling back to a previous version of your theme files. However, in order to do this, you will need to be able to identify the file that was previously modified. 


If there were no changes made to your theme's coding, may I ask when you first noticed this occurring and if it's happening on multiple browsers? It is also helpful if you share your store URL so that I can do some testing from my end.

Hi Luna, 
I got the same issue here for my https://maitrecorbeau.myshopify.com/ page

a) it does the same thing under Chrome and Firefox

b) I'm on the starter plan, so I got no options for the Theme (I only have the default/starter one, with some of my logos)

c) I cannot roll back to a previous version as there is no option under the "..." logo. 


I've only seen this today as I'm doing some more test, it may be this way since some time

If I go to Settings / Check out / Customize Checkout, it says :

The Theme you're looking for couldn't be found

Check the web address and try again, or try navigating to the Theme Editor from Themes.


Is there really no checkout page to my starter theme ? Did I subscribe to a shop from which I cannot sell ?

Can I please ask how did you solve the problem with your page because when I look at your website it's fixed and I have the same issue with my website please help

I had to call costumer support and after I managed to tell them I got a plan (free basic plan is still a plan), they helped me and fixed it if I remember correctly.
If it doesn't work, tell me again and I'll dig further, but I think it did
