Hey, @Daniyal205! Welcome to Shopify Community!

US merchants are required to provide their SSN to be able to use Shopify Payments. It's a mandatory requirement for verification and there is no way to bypass it. You can refer to Section B-3 of the United States Shopify Payments Terms of Service for more information on this.

Feel free to check out our payment gateway list for alternatives you can utilize to receive payments in your store. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Hey Summer,

Quick question, I'm on test mode using Shopify payments,  after checkout out I don't receive an order confirmation.  Why is that? Is there something wrong ?

Thanks

Sunny

Hey, @mrsun

I'd love to help. You should be receiving an order confirmation email even if you create a test order. To check if the system sent an order confirmation email, can you please view your test order's timeline? You can do so by following the steps on this page. There should be an activity that states an email was sent and it should look like this:

If you find that an order confirmation email was sent, I suggest checking your spam folder to see if the email landed there. If you don't see the email in your spam folder, or you discover an email wasn't sent by the system, please create a support ticket so we can investigate. You can do so by visiting our Help Center and chatting with the AI assistant. We'll be happy to assist you further!

Hey Summer,

I tried it again using the stripe fake numbers, and i think it worked.  I received an order confirmation stating an email has been sent to customer. So I got an order confirmation and received an email stating my order. So I guess everything is okay? I think before it wasn't working because I was inputting random numbers for credit cards at checkout. I thought it didn't matter since I was on test mode.

It would be nice if the email order does not go to junk/spam folder for customers. Any solution? Lastly,  I noticed the order confirmation for me, the merchant, goes into the email i had setup shopify and login in with, how do I change that so the orders I receive from customers go to another email address and not into the account i set up with and log in with?

Thanks,

Sunny

Hi, @mrsun. If you're following your payment gateway's steps to test the payment and you are receiving an order confirmation email, it does sound like it worked!

There are some steps you can take to ensure customers receive your emails and to prevent emails from landing in your customer's junk/spam folders. That being said, which folder an email lands in would also depend on your customer's email settings. You can find more information on setting up your email with Shopify here. For your order notifications as a merchant, you can manage where you receive them by following the steps in this guide

I want my website to go on Google search results. I've entered the preferences,  seo title tag and description.  Do I need to add add meta tag and meta description, and keywords into the html source code, too? I read online that would help...

Hi @mrsun,

The best thing to do is to submit your sitemap to Google as this means your website is likely to appear in search engine results faster. You don't need to be making edits to your theme's code for SEO purposes as Shopify-built themes are designed to be as SEO-friendly as possible. I'd suggest reading through our Help Center article on improving SEO as this details the best things to focus on.

Hi Victor,

I submitted my sitemap. But I got message saying some of your pages can't be indexed. Reason: "Search Console has identified that some pages on your site are not being indexed due to the following new reason:

Page with redirect"

What does this mean, how do I fix it?

Thanks

Sun

You will also need to establish an operational presence (plus a real US bank account, which requires travel and both a business and personal utility bill (an expensive process), which means either leasing or owning a warehouse in the name of your US LLC. Shopify Payments needs to verify your presence to reduce its risk. Here is a good article that goes into more detail: https://nvinc.com/shopify-payments-u-s-for-non-resident-sellers-a-step-by-step-guide/
