Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Hi there,
I'm using stripe to accept payment in UAE and I'm using apple pay to test the integration and they get an error saying "this field can not be blank" or the "Shipping address in not valid", of course all details are complete and stored as they made thousands of transactions before.
I tried to communicate Apple & Stripe and both agreed that the problem is from shopify!
I even visit the stripe company in Dubai and they said that the apple pay is not working well with shopify (In the UAE and most gulf region).
Any idea what this error relates to? is there any country limitations? 😞

I just had a long conversation with a Shopify advisor that didn't really go anywhere. They don't seem to realize that it is an issue with their checkout page requiring data validation on the Emirates choice. The bigger issue is we cant even customize the checkout page to not require it. Not sure how I will proceed but Apple Pay for express checkout is necessary.
Just tried it out, yes it redirects to a page and doesn't require you to enter the details once more which is good. This is what Shopify should've been doing with express checkout.
I just came up with a different solution guys. I installed Paymob (I know it redirects) and unfortunately, it doesn't put the Apple Pay logo or doesn't even mention it. So I installed an App called BeSure Checkout Rules and it allows you to rename 1 payment method for free. So I renamed Paymob's method to "Apple Pay and Google Pay". I haven't launched my website but I believe this will have a huge impact. I'm attaching a screenshot, check it out.
Hi, when i tried the same with the paytabs (NEVER use them, worst experiance and tonnes of bad reviews i see for a reason), they can as well enable the button, you dont need any app for anything like that, the apple button is NOT supporting an express checkout therefore just redirect you and asks to fill in the address.. so pointless, and abd customer experiance
We just activated Apple Pay yesterday with them. Once you are on the checkout and if we assume you already filled in all the address inputs, next is Payment method. So, when you select the Paymob option in that state, it just redirects customer to their payment page and customer selects either Apple Pay or credit card payment. Once it is done, order is done 🙂
I just did a test transaction yesterday and it worked the way I described. I don't know how it still asks for the address for you.
Keep in that mind; my primary payment method is still Stripe.
It is a bit of a hassle to onboard them btw and yes, they don't support Express Checkout but it is better than nothing.
I wonder can this app act the same if you have stripe? without having to install Paymob as a payment gateway? I assume that's possible and how does the apple pay redirect looks like ?

The issues is between apple pay & shopify mapping fields, if you type on the Area a correct name of emirates example " Dubai, Abudhab" same as the emirates Dropdown , it will 100% pass try it
I have the solution but it will work on user level not for owner.
the problem is Apple Pay address Feild are mapped wrongly in Shopify address.
for example Apple Pay address Feild area is mapped with Shopify address Feild emirate. So if you want to test change the area to city for uae. Put dubai in area that willl count as city and emirates in Shopify then it will work. We need to adjust or mapped correctly Shopify emirates section or city with Apple Pay city not with area.
I wonder why Shopify is taking more than a year to even answer this thread, Apple Pay is one of the most demanded payment method and UAE has an advanced payment gateway that works fine with other platform, Is there a way to loop in any of the support members here?
Look at this thread, 4000+ views and there are many more topics opened in the forums about this since 2021 and yet there is NO fix to this. All they need to do is to remove that "Emirate" field and Apple Pay won't be asking that. They have no idea how often people use Apple Pay in the UAE as their main payment method.
This is a huge disappointment.
I have a support ticket with shopify regarding this, and tonnes of material sent (as they were unaware?!) and they are allegedly fixing it for 2 months now.. will ask for update now to see the status
I hope they gonna fix it with an update release soon but I don’t have faith in it. This topic is around for a long time and I am sure so many people complained about it. Even a friend of mine came up with this topic when I mentioned “I am using Shopify for the website” cuz she’s been struggling for a while and never got a fix to this.
Fix is simple but who ever Shopify’s regional developers are, they’re for sure disappointments.

Hi, unfortunately no, i just gor back to shopify as they wisely closed my ticket.. after months.. and various advisors giving different answers and not finalisign solution (attaching some). It simply nees tk be resolved at shopify-apple level, and no payment provided solution will help, no proposals given in this group work as the core issue is not fixed. So i can only advise writing individually to shopify so we put pressure and keep bombarding them with the same topic of Apple pay not working in UAE.
Yes I spoke to them today and will keep doing so until they fix it...

Hey @Halderei you need to contact Paymob, they need to activate manually. Once they do it, your payment will work. Also ask them to activate Apply Pay and Google Pay, otherwise it won't appear.

Congrats on the solution, I didn't seem to receive an email or see an update, can you point me in the right direction?
I've chased Shopify again to see if there has been any update....nothing has changed. However, they have helped me by telling me about the Shopify Translate & Adapt. I have then amended the error message when someone's address isn't valid to say "Enter Emirate in the Area field" so the customer knows how to fix it. Not ideal but it's something - I am not a big fan of Paymob so I'm trying to move away so I have gone back to Stripe.
Going to give it a go and monitor abandoned carts etc to check it isn't impacting sales.

Hi Oliav, I am on not on Shopify Plus but this app seems to work okay for me 👍🏼 It's still annoying that the customer might have their address rejected first (so a proper solution would be much better) but at least this should guide them how to fix it themselves.
