Good afternoon

I processed a refund on September 8, and today still have the message as "refund is pending"

Hey, @edelmirof!

Thank you for reaching out. I'm happy to assist you!

Regarding your pending refund, it has been only 4 business days since the refund was initiated. Please note that it may take a bit more time for the refund to be processed and reach the designated account.

Refunds through PayPal on Shopify usually take up to 10 business days to process. The refund can be 'Pending' for up to 2 business days. More details in Shopify Payments FAQ can be found here.

If more than 10 business days have passed and the customer has not received their refund, you can provide the customer with the ARN number. The Acquirer Reference Number (ARN) can be located in the order timeline under the refund details. You can share this ARN with your customer. Please note that ARNs are provided for all refunds processed through Shopify Payments to Visa or Mastercard.

ARNs serve as a means for banks and credit card providers to track and trace transactions and the customer can trace the funds with their bank/card provider.

I don't know if you have anything planned for BFCM this year, but now is the time to make some preparations. BFCM is one of the biggest sales weekends of the year and sees the start of the holiday season as well. Every year my go-to is this BFCM Checklist at this link!

It allows me to make sure that I am making the best use of my time and resources, and it really helps take the pressure off by starting early. It is well worth the read should you be interested!
