Why is one item in my test order shipping from my own address?

I have just created my store and have sent a test order to myself.  One item fulfilled from DS dropshipping correctly, but one looks like it is shipping from my address.  It should only be dropship items.  Why?

Hey, @Drift2022! Welcome to Shopify Community!

If your items appear to be shipped from a different location than where it's actually shipped from, there's a likelihood the inventory in your admin is stocked at an incorrect location or app. You can check where a product is stocked and correct it if necessary by following the steps below.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Products.
  2. Click the title of the product in question.
  3. Scroll to the Inventory section.
    • If your product has variants, scroll to the Variants section and click any variant or the variant in question first to see the Inventory section.
  4. Underneath Inventory will be stocked at, it should say where the product is stocked or who ships it.
    • If it's incorrect, click the dropdown menu and select the correct location or app.
  5. Click Save.

Doing a test order was a good call. Going through your checkout and experiencing your store like how a customer would is imperative in spotting any kinks that need ironing out. In addition to doing a test order, there are other things you can do to prepare for your launch, such as putting together a pre-launch marketing plan. If you haven't done this yet, I encourage you to do so in order to get sales as soon as you launch. We have a list of pre-launch marketing tactics on this page where you can take ideas from in creating your marketing roadmap.

Good afternoon,

I did the same, I did a order last night to try out Aamzon Pay, and it showed it was shipped and delived from my home. Does that mean that my order didn't go though?

I went to Inventory and it was set to my home, then I put it on Printful, everything showed up.

Do I need to do a return or how does this work?

Hi @TheBigGuy. Welcome to the Shopify Community.

If your locations were not set up correctly when the order was placed, you don't necessarily have to do a return. If you are able to see the order in Printful, then you can still fulfill it. You will want to change your inventory location before fulfilling the item.

Follow these steps to change your inventory location:

  1. Shopify admin > Products.
  2. Click the title of the product you want to change.
  5. Click Save.

Once you have changed the location for your product, you will be able to fulfill the item. If the order does not show up in Printful, you can manually add the order, or cancel and place it again.

Here’s how to manually create an order in Shopify:

  1. Go to Orders > Drafts in your Shopify admin.
  2. Click Create order.
  3. Add products and customer details.
  4. Customize the order (discounts, taxes, etc.).
  5. Choose to send an invoice or accept payment directly.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
