Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Recently when peopl are trying to checkout with multiple items in their basket is it making the postage shoot right up, I’ve not changed anything and never had this problem before
I think it’s if they’ve added things from different postage rates but not 100% sure if this is the case
so someone ordered a cup (small parcel) and a card (large letter) and it wanted to charge her £7 instead of the £4 a small parcel would have been?
how do I fix this ?
Hi, @SophiesVinyl.
Have you created different Shipping Profiles within your store's shipping settings?
If so, it sounds like the system has combined the shipping rates between the different Shipping Profiles on your store, which is an expected behaviour of a Shipping Profile as explained on our help guide here. A couple of examples for where this behaviour can occur include:
If you'd like to change the behaviour of this combined shipping rate, you'll need to install a third-party app to help with this. An app such as Advanced Shipping Rules or Parcelify should help with calculating a more accurate shipping rate for your store. Advanced Shipping Rules has a Lite option for $9 USD per month that you can look into, to see if that will suit your specific business needs. Otherwise Parcelify has a plan for $19.99 USD per month. If you have any further questions concerning the apps I mentioned however, you can get in touch with the app's support team directly, as they're best equipped to answer app-specific queries.
If you don't have any Shipping Profiles on your store however and still can't pinpoint the reason behind your shipping rate behaviour, you can contact our Live Support team so that we can take a closer look at your account from our end. To get in touch with our team, you'll need to login to your store via our help centre here. Once logged in, select a topic that best fits your query or situation. From there, you'll be taken to a page with a list of relevant support articles, and you can scroll to the bottom of that page to select your preferred contact method with our team.
As you're currently looking through your shipping settings, I also thought I'd leave some of our resources to help you further optimise your store's shipping strategies. Feel free to have a good read of them below:
