Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
I have changed my Payment method for my store to COD, went through settings>Payments> Manual Payments Methods> and chose the COD option.
system stated : activated.
But when I preview my store though Online Store Previewer, I can't find the COD method in my Cart page,
p.s. I have previously edited my CART code to use PayPal Smart Button, and removed the Old blue checkout Button as it's not connected to any 3rd Party Payment Gateway and i though why leave it there - plus I already have PayPal Express activated,
I'm not sure why is this Happening? COD is activated but not appearing on my store Cart Page!
Can any one please help??
Hi, @th3apostle!
Julie here from Shopify Support.
Thanks for letting me know that you've successfully activated Cash on Delivery as a payment method. Since you've removed the Checkout button from your Cart page, this is likely the reason why your customers are not seeing Cash on Demand as a payment option.
Any payment method you set up in Settings > Payments will be available in the checkout, with the exception of accelerated checkout methods, which you can also add to the Cart page.
For example, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay are accelerated checkout methods that gives customers the ability to bypass the entire checkout and quickly complete their purchase using their Shop Pay, Apple Pay, or Google Pay accounts. Cash on Demand, on the other hand, is not an accelerated checkout method, so it requires customers to go through the checkout.
Because the accelerated checkout methods listed above have a direct integration with Shopify, any orders processed using either of those methods will reflect in the Orders section of your Shopify admin. However, for an order to be processed using any other payment method, your customers must proceed through the online checkout process. Without this step, the order will not reflect in your Orders page.
To allow customers to use Cash on Demand, I suggest re-adding the checkout button that you had previously removed from your Cart page. You can do this by rolling your theme back to an older version. Once the checkout button has been re-added, you should be able to process orders in your online checkout using that particular payment method.
Another reason why the online checkout should be used is to accurately track conversions. Through Shopify Analytics, you'll have access to sales reports and conversion rates, which allow you to keep track of sales. These reports require the use of the online checkout, so this is just another reason why you'll want to ensure that your checkout is accessible.
I hope this clears things up! Let me know how that goes.
