How to show only selected variant pics on product from printify

Hello,

Im trying to get my product page (using Refresh or Dawn theme) for a tee shirt design to show only the variant images for each color shirt available. The products are through the Printify app in Shopify. It only sort of works at the moment as it does show the color selected, but only the first image. All the rest are still viewable for all the other colors. 

I would also like the buttons for the colors available to show little icons of the shirt in that color instead of just text.

To be honest I am kind of surprised its not just an option already built into Printify or Shopify. Seems like a basic QOL necessity so product pages dont get over cluttered wit images. I mean my one Printify T-shirt has 72 pics due to all the color options available. 

Thanks for the push in the right direction though. Definitely helps to get me where I'm going. I am oblivious to coding, but not afraid to dive in. Not excited about it to be fair, lol! But will try my hand at it nonetheless!
