So say I'm selling a lipstick with 10 different shades. My main images are of product, packaging etc and then swatches of the different shades. I have the correct swatch set to the variant on shopify. easy no problems.
However, on Google ads and Facebook shop the product image shows just swatches, (again swatches are correct for each variant) but no other images. Is there anything I can do on shopify to stop it showing like that?
By default only the variant image will be used as the main product image for Google Shopping.
Additional images should show.
What do you see when you go to Google Merchant Center > products > all products > click on your product >
We're having the same problem with having only color swatches for variant images. Can we override the variant images with a static url of the main image? Does the Item group ID have an associated image field? [item_group_id]
Yes you can change images, however, the image you show, must accurately represent what you sell. Meaning if you sell a black t shirt, don't show a white one.
