Another recent bug: 'smart grid updated' constantly displayed

Although I've been fairly frustrated with Shopify's P.O.S. POS for years now, I've finally gotten used to its quirks/limitations, and some things have even been - dare I say - improved lately (eg. thanks so much for removing that tiny "+" symbol!) - however I have been noticing one annoying bug recently...  I don't leave my POS machine (an older iphone, since they EOL'd my even older ipad mini) active all day, but every single time I wake it back up to ring up a customer, it displays this annoying "Smart grid updated" alert, even though I literally haven't touched my "smart grid" for years!

This has been going on for at least the last couple weeks - can this please be fixed, and soon? Thanks!

Hi! Lindsay here, I'm a Product Manager here on the Shopify Retail team. Thanks so much for pointing out this bug! It IS quite annoying! Our team has gone ahead and fixed it as part of POS app version 9.16 which will be available for manual download starting August 19, 2024.

Any chance we can get the jumping cursor bug fixed? Trying to type in a customer name on the POS to put a sale under their account now requires THREE steps AND the cursor then jumps. Our customers are used to how long everything takes with our POS now, but the new clients don't understand why everything takes so long and it's frustrating for them. Every single one asks us why we haven't switched to a different system. That's not the advertising Shopify wants for this surely.  There are a lot of challenges with how this system has been laid out, and designed by people who obviously do not use a POS daily for their work. We would be really happy to work with Shopify to improve the work flow challenges that have been implemented. Improving our customer experience is integral for us and Shopify POS is the last spot where we can't make that customer experience smooth or quick, please help us!

Hi @LindsayRothy what does manual download mean? Will this update be available in the apple App Store?

"Manual download" is the earliest possible date that a new version of the POS app is available. After about a week or so of a new version being available, it will automatically download to devices (if you have the device setup that way).
