Barcode Entry on Admin Page

Can I use the Shopify barcode reader to enter a product barcode while entering my data in the admin page? 

I mean, I'm thinking to buy the barcode reader to facilitate entering product barcodes while adding them, so I just want to double check before buying the device.

Can you help me with this issue please?
