Retail hardware, software, and Shopify Point of Sale
We are trying to take our brick and mortar store online. We currently have a clover system that we purchased about a year ago. It seems the Clover system is proprietary, but some items may work with Shopify POS. I can't tell by the list on Shopify if they will work or not? Any thoughts. We're small so I'm trying to keep the costs as low as possible.
Greetings, @SouthernSister1.
Thank you for reaching out and posting this question!
You can use a third-party terminal, like Clover, by simply activating a custom payment method for the Shopify POS app. However, since the payments are processed through a third-party and not Shopify, then you would simply be marking the order as paid on Shopify POS after you've ensured that the payment has been successfully processed through Clover.
That being said, if you'd like to take a closer look at the hardware for Shopify POS and process payments directly through Shopify, then we'd also recommend checking out the Shopify Hardware Store as well as our guide, Hardware for Shopify.
I'd love to hear more about your business! What kinds of products do you sell? Do you have a marketing plan prepared for your business?
