Retail hardware, software, and Shopify Point of Sale
Hi there,
I am in a band from the UK and we are touring around Europe soon, how can I accept payments in other euros? Currently all of our POS sales are in GBP, would I just need to purchase a new card reader for euros??
cheers
Dee
Hey @deevower
Here's what you can do:
Create a Multi-Currency Store (Shopify Payments):
If you use Shopify Payments, you can activate multi-currency choices right in your store settings. This allows you to take payments in euro or any other supported currency.
To configure this, go to your Shopify admin, then Settings > Payments > Shopify Payments, and make sure Multiple Currencies is enabled. Then, include euros on the list of acceptable currencies.
Shopify Payments allows you to sell in many currencies online, but the POS system only accepts transactions in your store's base currency. In-store (POS) payments will remain in GBP regardless of where you are.
Card Readers:
Unfortunately, Shopify card readers are region-specific. To accept euros in-person via POS, contact Shopify to see if a card reader unique to the European region is available.
You could alternatively use a third-party card reader or payment terminal that accepts euro transactions.
Third-Party POS Integration:
You may wish to look at third-party payment providers (such as SumUp or Zettle) that accept payments in multiple currencies across Europe. These could supplement your Shopify store's online multi-currency configuration.
This allows you to continue receiving payments easily while touring Europe.
