Chipper 2X BT Reader swipe slot too thin.

We like the new Chipper 2X BT Reader in that it will perform all three payment card methods (swipe, chip, tap). However, the swipe slot is far too narrow. This prevents our customers from being able to easily swipe their cards. Our cashiers have to swipe the card, while delicately prying open the narrow plastic slot. I fear this will result in breakage, and thus is preventing me from rolling these devices to all six POS stations at our three store locations.

Have any of you had success at permanently prying open the Chipper 2X BT Reader swipe slot, without breaking it, so that cards can slide easy without much customer/staff effort? If so, what was your method?
