Retail hardware, software, and Shopify Point of Sale
We are using an Epson TM-M30II Receipt printer connected to Shopify POS via Bluetooth. Regularly the receipt does not print quickly and hence the till drawer does not open automatically. It can take 10 to 20 minutes for the receipt to print and the customer has given up waiting and left. The tablet is right beside the printer. The WiFi connection is strong. The connection is active. Does anyone know if there is an option to connect the printer via a cable to the WiFi box or the android tablet as this is a real issue for our business?

I have the Epson TM-M30III and it doesn't matter how it's connected (ethernet or usb-c). The receipt printing is painful. As is opening the cash drawer. Shopify promised tech would look at this but it's been a week and no reply.
The print test receipt in the settings usually works instantly. Orders range from instant to never. I'm so angry that these bugs aren't ironed out having spent so much on hardware.

We are having the exact same problem. Please someone help us get the printer to work consistently. There doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason to why it decides to start working? Did we choose the wrong printer? Is someone having better luck with a different model. From what I can tell, this model seems pretty solid. More likely a coding problem on Shopify end. Does someone know?
We went over to a wired system - this receipt printer goes to a connection hub which connects to the android tablet, so this printer and the barcode scanner are now wired. That vastly improved things, but three or four times a day it doesnt work, but restarting the app forces it to.
Shopify don't answer any emails about it.
We have recently changed our WiFi provider and there is an improvement in the length of time it takes to print a receipt but intermittently we still experience the issue
Did you fix that problem? My business just changed from another system to Shopify and faces the same issue. Still finding a way to fix it completely. My printer is TSP143BI, connected via Bluetooth. Every single time it happens, I need to force the app off and then turn it on, but I'm worried because we're having another till soon, don't know whether that works with 2 tills, 2 printers at the same time. It's so annoying.
We experience the exact same issue and tried both wireless and USB with the same poor result - simply not acceptable as these printers are recommended by Shopify. Please fix this issue ASAP
I am having the same issue with my printer and cash drawer. They take forever! I have not been able to solve this issue either.

If you're experiencing some trouble with printing receipts, I'd encourage you to connect the printer through USB and/or an ethernet cable. Having the same issue, works...doesn't work. Takes a long time to print, prints very slowly then spits the next one in queue out fast. Turned off / turned on. wired directly, changed settings. Works fine then doesn't....
UPDATE: We had been using our IOS device for POS. Went and purchased an android for under $100 and problem went away
