Retail hardware, software, and Shopify Point of Sale
Is anyone else experiencing issues with POS all of a sudden? I'm currently open only on weekends, and while everything (even Customer View!) worked perfectly last weekend, this weekend has been painful.
I've had to restart the POS app after every few customers. Sometimes the Enter PIN screen will be up, but it doesn't recognize the screen touches. The Home Button works and I can make selections in Home. Sometimes POS does let me in, but then there will be a number of seconds between a scan and the product showing up in the cart or all buttons are totally non-responsive. Or I can get to the payment stage and it won't allow the customer to use their card or even let me hit the Cash button. It's like there is a slow memory leak. This iPad is a dedicated POS terminal, but I have tried running Safari when POS slows, and it seems fine. As I said, I restart POS and usually get some more time where it works before it eventually slows down or locks up again, but this is frustrating, for me and for my customers.
I have tried clearing caches, rebooting the iPad (a few times, including leaving it off overnight last night), and I'm not running anything other than POS (actively or in the background). My internet connection is strong. I have plenty of storage remaining on the iPad. There are no pending updates (iOS or POS).
Is it just me? Any suggestions?
Good question. I assume the current version, as I don't need any updates, but where is the version shown? I can't find it.
Sorry,,, I thought you were talking about POS.
iOS 15.7.5. It's an iPad Air 2, so I don't think it can run 16.
Jeez, I swear I looked there three times and didn't see it. I'm on 8.7.1. Sorry.
So... Just me, huh?
Yes, we've been having exactly the same issue at our 3 locations. POS starts out fine when you open it, but after a couple of transactions, it becomes really laggy and unresponsive. We're having to close the app after every transaction and open it up again to make it useable.
I've had lengthy discussions with support on this, even sending them video clips of what happens, but there has been no resolution. I'm just hoping the next update fixes this bug.
Thanks @Smoketronics. I'm glad to know it's not only us. It's very frustrating.
Likewise, I'm glad it's not only us experiencing this issue. I was beginning to wonder 🙂
Fingers crossed someone somewhere can resolve the problem, because it's really frustrating.
After much troubleshooting, our problem seems to be caused by the Selly app. Do you have this installed on POS as well?
I am familiar with Selly and used it at a previous company, but I'm not using it for this store. I'll take a look at other apps, though, to see what else may be interacting with POS and could be causing the problem.
Strangely, I didn't have any real issues this past weekend, and it was a busy one. Perhaps whatever was causing the issue for me was corrected.
I am currently having this issue also!!!
