I don't mind paying for an app.
How do you handle inventory for products that have a base item which is sometimes sold unembroidered but most times sold with embroidery? Also, it's mostly in inventory unembroidered but here and there we have pieces that are embroidered and we need to track their inventory when that happens.
When the customer places an order we charge them for the decorated item and the decorated item therefore decreases its inventory while the undecorated item's inventory remains the same.
Ideally, there's a bundle app where one item in the bundle is a product and one item is a service or non-physical item. Shopify's app didn't work for our purposes. I don't recall why but I know it doesn't work for POS which is where these sales occur. There were perhaps other reasons.
Any apps to recommend or processes to suggest?

Just make it a variant option unless your using all 3 productOptions already or hitting the variant limit.
currently in developer preview there may be future changes to variant limits to 2K+
Or just use an inventory sync app, or roll custom logic for your use case using an automation app like mechanic:

If an inventory pool is shared among different skus, inventory sync'ing is needed.
If a specific bundling solution can't be found off the shelf that is.

Hi @hstb , our app Fusion Inventory will work perfectly for you here. It can keep the inventory for your embroidered and unembroidered variants in sync. Take a look at our user guide to see you can use it.

If you maintain separate inventories for unembroidered and embroidered products (where some pieces are already embroidered), you can easily set up separate inventory for each variant.
However, if your products are all unembroidered and you only embroider them when an order is placed, here’s an alternative approach: create 2 variants (Unembroidered and Embroidered) for customers to choose from, as you’re doing now. Then, use the Easify Inventory Sync app to create an Inventory group that links these 2 variants and shares the same inventory, based on your unembroidered products.
This way, when a customer selects Unembroidered, the quantity of the Embroidered variant will also adjust, and vice versa.
