How can I auto-tag orders based on sales channel?

Hi there, I am looking for a solution for auto-tagging orders based upon the sales channel.  I sell online, in store and at pop ups (the latter using POS) and typically the POS customers are local.  I am trying to build out email list segments for local customers and the only way to capture them is to do an export, however they aren't currently tagged.

Simply stated, I need to set up a tag for all transactions that happen via POS channel (this would cover both my retail store and any pop ups).  I can't use any of the normal attributes like address or billing zip- because this information is not recorded during an in-person sale.

TIA!

You can use the app called Order Tagger to tag orders in any way you can imagine.

As an alternative, you could use our Report Toaster app to create and export a list or orders that are created from the POS sales channel. Feel free to take a look and let

us know how we can help.

I am currently having a lot of issues due to the fact that Shopify - who once used to tag all point of sale orders as such - idiotically decided to remove this tag. It is now impossible to automate emails to POS clients (95% of my customer base) because the orders are not identifiable automatically.  Adding tags after the fact with a 3rd party app does not work as this does not trigger automation.  As a maker and seller, I do not need the extra workload of manually activating email flows because Shopify removed this essential and vital identifier. If anyone knows of a workaround to this problem I would love to hear it.

I am having the same problem. I went in and tagged the point of sales, and I still can't get anything to work. It is so frustrating because I really only want to target a special sale to local customers, not my whole base. I would love some help finding something too!!

I am using an app called SC Order Tags and flows currently to tag POS sales. Unfortunately these tags are not being exported into my email app so they are only helpful to sort but not to create automations.

I was able to solve this with marketing automation.

You'll probably want to have one automation dedicated to tagging. Additionally, depending on your goals, you may want to do a "Source: POS" tag if the first time you saw the customer was in-person. Then add the "Online" tag after they've converted online.

Alternatively, you could remove other channel tags after each order.

Seems to take a little time to allow for the automation to process.
