Retail hardware, software, and Shopify Point of Sale
We sell a product that is buy 2, get 1 free.
I have this setup as a discount, so if people add 3 to their cart on my website, one is 100% discounted.
But when I do a craft fair, and we're using the POS app, we have to discount it manually.
What options do I have to make this happen automatically and easily? It's a PITA.

I understand that your automatic discount is not being applied to your Point-of-sale orders. The most common reason here is that the POS sales channel is not enabled for the discount. To check this, please head on over to the Discounts section of your Shopify Admin, click on the desired discount, and click Manage on the Sales Channel tab. From there, you will want to ensure that the POS channel is checked off. You will want to ensure that all of your other settings like Customer eligibility are being considered as well.

In my discount, I do have the option to enable it in the POS - but it's limited to POS Pro only
This is quite literally the ONLY feature I could ever imagine needing in the POS Pro side - we're a small business, with two users, and the $89/mo POS Pro is absolute overkill for our needs and frankly, would bankrupt us.
So, to have this one item locked there, is frustrating. Is there an alternate way of doing this I am missing? A simple "buy 2, get 1 free" option during checkout?

I can definitely understand your concern here. I have taken a moment to relay your feedback with our developers for consideration. Instead of opting for an automatic discount, have you tried using a discount code for your Point-of-Sale transactions? This might speed up the process as all you will need to do is input the code at checkout, and the discount should apply to the items in your order.
