How can I efficiently collect customer emails at POS checkout?

I am looking for a solution to capturing customer email addresses during check out on the POS. With Square, there was a prompt that came up to have the customer sign up for email marketing and email receipts.

We have a good number of customers each day so creating a full customer profile in the cart for each transaction is not an option. We need a prompt in the POS to capture this important piece of data. Right now we have a piece of paper where customers can sign up with name and email. Then at the end of the week I have to add them manually on the back end. Huge issue that needs to be addressed.

Does an email receipt capture this information? Help!

I also have had this same issue.  I want to collect it at the time of the sale.  This was integrated so well on the square platform and is a feature that I really miss after switching to Shopify.  Square also allowed you to offer your customer a coupon that was emailed after the visit in exchange for them providing their email address.  It would be great if Shopify could also add this feature

Any solution to this? About to switch from Square to Shopify POS and it may get rejected if I can't find a fix.

As a workaround we created a link on the POS page to a email collection URL. The cashier will ask if they want to be on the email list and click the URL to collect the email. Far from ideal as the reps will sometimes forget and it's not part of the payment pages. That's the best I could do. If you find something better please reply. Hopefully, Shopify will address the problem someday.

This is a critical miss for Shopify POS. Especially with their partnership/ownership stake in Klaviyo. Come on Shopify, we need pop-up reminders not only for email capture but add-on sale reminders like when you sell a item you get a remider to ask about selling another compimentary product, extended warranty, etc. Salespeople just don't remember to ask.
