How can I resolve my inventory management discrepancies on Shopify?

Please, I have a couple of questions about the operation of shopify itself.
I will give you a specific example now - it is not the first time this has happened, but it looks like the starting and ending inventory doesn't match with the physical inventory we have.
We received 32 of specific items, sold 30 within a few months, and inventory showing me still 14 x available? All the orders are fulfilled and the product is not committed )
When I do reports, shopify shows only 18 sold (instead of 30) which is not correct.
By saying that, I can't rely on the reports.
Please advise and if you can explain to me how I can prevent this confusion in the future it would be appreciated.

I would love to know if you found a solution to this issue. My store is facing this as well. It's incredibly frustrating.
