Retail hardware, software, and Shopify Point of Sale
Is there a way to back out of a transaction after a split payment is started?
For example, we had a customer want to do a split payment. We initially took their partial cash payment, but before using their credit card they changed their mind and decided they wanted the whole payment on their credit card. We could not find a way to back out of the payment. The only option we could find was to complete the sale, return it and then re-ring the entire transaction.
Is there a solution we are missing?

This is an accepted solution.
What works for us in that exact scenario (having accepted cash, processed it and now being invited to enter Payment 2) is to swipe right on the screen twice and then press Close at the top left. That cancels the split payment and returns you to the Cart, where you can start again. Getting the swipe technique is the only slightly tricky part; you need to start with your finger off the screen on the left hand side. Good luck!

This was perfect. THANK YOU
Ooooo I need help with this as well! Can I still delete the incorrect payment even though I processed the order? Help 😖. I am trying to swipe right but nothing is happening.

It looks like you can use the swipe right technique as long as the split payment is still 'active'. Once you have entered and processed the final payment of the split, the order is then complete (as it would be if you'd processed a single payment) and you can't reverse out of it.
Thank you for getting back to me Ruby. I must have gone too far to use the swipe technique. I now know for next time though 😅.
