How Can I Turn Off My Website To Customers

Hi,

I have a bricks and mortars store which has the portable pos and I dropship from my website.

I would like to have a sale in my shop but turn off the website so customers cant access it. I still need the POS machine to work at the shop.

How can I pause my website but not affect the pos in the shop?

Elias here with Shopify Support. That's a great question!

Though there is an option to pause your store; however, this also deactivates the checkout and POS. Instead you can enable the password protection for your online store, which prevents customers from accessing your website and this won't affect your POS. The password page is often used when a store needs to be made unavailable temporarily, for things like maintenance or major changes/updates to the website. You can also leave a message for your customers right on the password page and let them know when your website will be available again!
