How to simplify inventory templates for consigners' easy import?

Greetings!

I operate a retail shop and would like to supply consigners with an inventory template that they could fill in themselves and I could import to Shopify.

I know that you are able to import an inventory list but I suspect the existing Shopify CVS file (https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/products/inventory/inventory-csv), with its many columns, would be daunting for my consigners. Is anyone aware of an existing template that simplifies the columns while still allowing for a smooth upload? A template that "hides" columns that are not in use?

Totally willing to take this on myself, just curious if it already exists.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Hi @YFNCT, if you're still looking for a solution here, I'd like to suggest trying ConsignMint. We released this app earlier this year and I think it could help simplify your process for getting new consignment inventory into Shopify.

With ConsignMint, you can invite your vendors to access their own dashboard where they can see their sales, monitor inventory, and submit new products (and edits to existing products) for review. This would eliminate the need to use spreadsheets for vendor inventory lists. Once a product request is submitted, you can approve, decline, or request changes to it. Approving a product request pushes the changes right to Shopify for you — no manual upload needed.

If this sounds like something that might fit your needs, we'd love for you to try out the app. ConsignMint does have a free trial so there's no commitment needed to test it out. If you have any questions about the app, let me know and I'd be happy to help answer them!

Hi @YFNCT, An easier option would be to use a consignment app with a client portal, e.g. Circle-Hand consignment app (disclosure: I am one of the founders): consignors can add items through a client portal, you can approve or reject them, and approved items automatically upload to your POS or online store—no manual work needed. It also helps manage payouts, link items to consignors, and more.

From my experience with other shops trying to build their own solutions like Typeform and CSV uploads, they end up with highers costs and more manual work, therefore we have a $29 starter plan which includes all the features that quickly pays for itself. Let me know if you have any questions or want to test Circle-Hand!
