Retail hardware, software, and Shopify Point of Sale
How do we stop Shopify POS Go logging out every time I put it in the terminal doc? We use it both at our till as a customer facing device and in our warehouse and shop for packing orders/checking stock levels etc. We take it out of the doc 10-20 times a day and it makes us log in every single time. It also doesn't remember our email address so I have to enter our email address, password and then verify from another device EVERY time, 10-20 times a day!
Hi there, @nztack.
Thanks for posting to the Shopify Community.
We're sorry to hear you're experiencing issues on your end. I would like our Retail Support Team to take a more detailed look into this. You can access Support by going to your POS app and clicking ≡ > Support > Contact Support.

I have done this and was told that this is done intentionally by design. I not sure what brain dead employee thought that would be a good idea. Once you are logged in, Shopify POS also asks for the 4 digit code to sign in also, so it's not like customers can get into the POS if the device stays logged in.
Can confirm that this is the case - we were excited on getting our hands on a few of them to put out on the shop floor, however after testing realised this was the issue. We were looking to use them as a card reader connected to an iPad and then take them out and use them as a walk-around POS device on an ad-hoc basis before returning them to be a card reader. Unfortunately this 'logging out' every time it's taken out of the dock renders it useless for this (as our shop floor staff don't have the permission to login to POS via email - even if they did it wouldn't be practical to get them to login every time).
It's meant that the devices have ended up as expensive glorified card readers, which is a great shame. Feedback provided to Shopify when they first released but no change - I assume they've done it for security reasons, but it really does make the entire device pointless as to why it exists in the first place.
