How to stop the 'Item Type Field' from showing up in POS system?

Since the last update, we are having this field show up any time we use the "Add Custom Sale" field in our POS system, which is what we use most often given the continuous variability of our product types. Does anyone know how to make this stop showing up? We have to go in and manually delete it every time, as it keeps showing up on our invoices and looks tacky.
