I completed a transaction with the wrong customer on the order, how do I fix it?

I have two customers with the same name in my system, and I accidentally added the wrong one and completed the transaction. This meant that the wrong customer got sent the receipt, and the real customer didn't get one. It also meant that the wrong customer got the Marsello loyalty points and the real customer didn't get any. I can update Marsello points manually, but how do I fix the record in my system of which customer made the purchase, and send the receipt to the correct customer? I can't cancel the order because it has already been completed, and I don't want to refund it. I use Shopify POS and web, and they are connected, if that's relevant.

I have the same issue. Did you ever get an answer on how to correct this?

No. I was told there is no way to edit. I would have to return and redo the transaction. I decided to leave it alone. I hope they add it to a future update.

I just found this info and was able to change the customer!

 

Add, delete, or change the customer for an order

You can adjust the customer information on a POS order.

To change the customer on an order, you need to delete the current customer and then add the correct customer.

You can also edit information about the customer by tapping the customer's name.

Steps:

  1. From the Shopify POS app, tap the  button and then tap Orders.

  2. Tap an order to view its details screen.

  3. Adjust the order as needed by doing any of the following:

    • Add a customer - First, delete any existing customer on the order, and then tap either Add customer and search for an existing customer, or Add new customer and fill in the contact information.
    • Delete a customer - Swipe left on the customer's name, and then tap Remove.
    • Edit a customer - Tap the customer's name, edit their details, and then tap Save.
