Is there a pre-production or test area available in Shopify?

Hello, 

We've been using shopify for a little bit now.  Pretty pleased with the overall system, the integration of apps, the workflow, the payment methods, etc.  

That being said, I do have one thing I'd like to see if it exists, is in the works, or if I am missing the way I could currently do it.

A pre-production/test area.  A separate area to test things that I may want to go live on my store.  I hate testing in production environments.  It's extremely risky, even in the middle of the night when no one should be browsing the site.

My questions:

1) Does this feature already exist

2) IF it does how do I get to it

3) If it doesn't, can something be set up for me
