Retail hardware, software, and Shopify Point of Sale
Does Shopify POS have the ability to auto-identify an existing customers' profile based on the credit card they used before so that things like receipts are emailed automatically? Square does this well in-store and am wondering if Shopify has this capability / plans to have one soon.
I have this same question! We switched from Square to Shopify back in 2019, and that is a feature we really liked about Square. We had a big in-person shopping event this past weekend, and there were quite a few customers who assumed we already had their info when we asked about sending them a receipt due to all of the square users. I will say that we did have some repeat customers make purchases using credit cards, and I do not recall ever seeing automated receipts or even pre-populated contact info presented after payment, so I’m thinking that may be a feature Shopify has yet to implement. Definitely a shame, as it slows down the checkout process having to manually type in the customer’s info for each transaction.

Not sure about the credit card, but by using Mobile Wallet Passes at the POS the whole process of data integration and customer identification becomes smooth and easy.
