Most stable hardware?

I read about a lot of disconnect issues with scanners, printers, card readers. Is anyone using any piece of hardware that they feel works reliably? We will be using two ipads and if possible I'd like for them to both print to the same printer. 

I'm only using them for the basics...just to ring people up...but I still need all the hardware to be stable. We do not always have people in the store who can deal with anything technical.

Is there ANY hardware that any of you have been happy with?

Any that you feel like is 'okay'?? Does everyone literally hate every piece of hardware?? lol

The only hardware I feel unhappy with is when we were using a customer view tablet, they're the absolute worst. The integration with our shopify integrated moneris debit terminal isn't really as fluid as it could be. But we have a star micronics printer, a 2d scanner, a cash box & the fancy shopify stand and no complaints for any of them.
