New Barcode scanner working intermittenly

I just bought the socket 700 D1 and it all seems to be set up correctly as it scans my barcodes sometimes. Even the same on will not scan every time and I have to hold it at odd angles and move it closer and further away. I'm using a DYMO 450 printer with the 1'x1.5" labels. I have synced and unsynced  the scanner but it hasn't helped.

 

So frustrated. Any help, advice I could get would be welcome.

Thanks for reaching out in our Community forum. I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your reader. I completely understand the importance of getting this resolved. I recommend:

 

  • Confirm that you are using the all new POS and that the scanner isn’t connected to another device
  • Ensure Bluetooth is on in the iPad settings and the scanner is showing as connected. Also, check if they are within 10m of the iPad as this will impact performance and ability to pair the device.
  • Go to ≡ > Settings > Manage connected hardware and confirm if the barcode scanner is showing as connected there

 

If the scanner is connected, but not scanning the products as expected please follow these steps: 

 

  • Check the product's visibility in the admin. It should be set as visible on POS, be activated, and be available to your location. 
  • Ensure other products are able to be scanned and added, this will help to determine if the issue is related to a single product or the device/app.
  • Ensure the barcode number matches the number on the product in the admin. Often leading or trailing zeros on the number are the problem.
  • Ensure the barcode number on the admin product page is input into the barcode field and not the SKU field.
  • If the barcode scans, but the barcode number appears in the search bar, ensure that you are selecting the search bar first before scanning.
