Retail hardware, software, and Shopify Point of Sale
Just trying to understand the logic of making it more complicated now to add products to a customers order in the POS system in the new update? I can no longer just single click add the item by clicking it, instead i have to use a micro + button on the right. This is totally backwards thinking. the most important thing in the POS is to make the sale, not check inventory/info. It should be reversed
Clicking the giant item button should add the item to cart.
and the + should be replaced by "Details" which would then take you to the screen.
Another update that reduces functionality. Please consider this change. I know there's a lot of big threats to leave on here constantly, but I don't understand the constant reduction of simplicity, in a world with ever more competition in the field.

Why did your company delete the "+" when ordering on the pos app? It just made it more time consuming to see/adjust the quality of the item your inputing for an order.
Hey, @Tpark357079.
Thanks for reaching out.
That is a great question! You can still make adjustments or changes to the number of products in the cart on the Shopify POS app. You can select on the specific product to see the + option available.
Let us know what you think.

The latest update has made the checkout process a nightmare when it should be seamless for converting customers quickly. Considering alternatives? ConnectPOS emerges as the prime candidate with its lightning-fast 3-step checkout and incredibly user-friendly interface. With a free trial and a 4.7-star rating (the highest for POS on Shopify), it's definitely worth a try!
Hi, everyone. Thanks again for sharing your feedback here in the Community. Your feedback is extremely valuable as we continue to improve this feature and we have taken this back to our team for review. We wanted to reach back out here and share some context on why these changes were made as well.
Based on our data and usability testing, we found that having an explicit button to add-to-cart would improve user confidence that they performed the right action by almost 2x. Often, products being added via the search page ended up being removed from the cart as they were added accidentally. We aimed to make this component more intuitive by clearly labelling key actions and grouping relevant information. Previously, it was not clear what the intended behavior of the product list item was. In search results and collections it was adding to cart; in product list, it was opening PDP. There was no explicit action to add a product to cart in both the search results and in the product list. This new "Add to Cart" button helps to simplify the process of adding and removing items from your cart, making your transactions quicker and more intuitive.

I hope you have been reading all of the feedback from users who are saying the "improvements" are actually direct opposite.
Okay, so there are times when products are added to cart accidentally and
then need to be removed. Undesirable. And if you can try to
ameliorate those occurrences great. But don't break something else while
doing so.
If you only look at the 1 in 10000 times this mistake happens and say
"Well, 100% of the time that the user adds then removes an item they
performed the wrong action so let's fix it" is looking at the data in a
vacuum. The correct analysis is 9999/10000 times the correct action
happened. If we can fix the 1/10000 without regressing the 9999/10000,
great! But you've taken a 1/10000 problem and now you have a much higher
percentage-of-the-time problem instead! This is a significant and amateur user
interface and data interpretation fail.
If you don't like percentages, the same analysis can be performed on a
time-wasted basis and it leads to the same conclusion.
Improving user confidence is great when done within a control group for usability testing, but adding additional steps and unexpected confusion for all point-of-sale staff, who often work under serious time constraints when making a sale, can undermine any positive outcomes.
Please take the immediate community feedback seriously - while it may seem to be a small subset of users - those who speak up represent a much larger user base as Shopify does not provide a true community-based feedback area and many merchants do not know where to give their opinion (you'll even find related feedback on the Google Play Store reviews).
I just went to use the POS system since the update. If this isn’t fixed by the time my Pro trial is over, I’m going back to Square. This is so bad. Makes everything worse and slow AS HELL
Hey, @erindayhaw
We really appreciate your input on suggesting the changes since the recent POS system update. This helps us steer the direction of the Shopify to continue developing a feature rich platform.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

I totally agree. It is frustrating when you are used to clicking the large item name to add it to your cart quickly and now you need to remember to click the tiny plus sign way off on the right or face a totally useless pop up screen and extra clicks to exit. It was easier before the change. Also, it would be nice if the search bar cleared after adding an item to the cart. It's a little annoying to have to backspace on the search bar every time you finish adding an item
We do not like the new format. Splitting the screen and populating all the inventory information is tedious. There are too many steps to put an item in the cart.
I agree absolutely and hope that this is reversed.
Hey guys, what is the exactly thing you are talking about?
We have Shopify POS app on different devices with different versions.
I attached two photos.
Photo is taken from Shopify POS App on Android System. Version: 9.11.2
What I find real nice in V 9.11.2 on Android is that we can add items quickly by the plus Icon on the right. When you click it you can also easily edit the quantity. Cause mostly (we are a Wineshop) customers buy more than only one bottle and also more than one product. So we search for it, add it, adjust the quantity, search for a new one and add it, adjust it.
On newer versions, like POS V 9.14.1 on iPad or 9.15.0 on iPhone this feature is not available anymore.
