Retail hardware, software, and Shopify Point of Sale
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the SAVE CART feature in POS! The Save as Draft Order is useless for my store as it is not editable and it takes several steps just to find the draft order. The Save Cart was a necessity for us. Taking away the Save Cart feature has really hindered our checkout process! PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!
Hey, @PBandJArchdale.
Thank you for reaching out and sharing this feedback.
We can understand why the save cart feature is important to you, and we'd be happy to share your feedback with our development team. If Shopify moves forward with any changes to the Shopify POS, then we'll be sure to announce them on the Shopify Changelog.
If you have any other questions on this topic, then don't hesitate to let us know.

@PBandJArchdale I'm sorry to tell you but, we've been dealing with this issue for months now and
what @Elias has stated is misinformation at best and disinformation at worst.
Even if the "development team" is informed, they have no interest in returning the functionality
of the "SAVE CART" feature, which we have all stated, over and over and over, is far superior to
the DRAFT ORDER feature, which is cumbersome and prone to user error, creating even more
problems than it solves.
Many other customers have stated they moving to different POS platforms as it has become
apparent that SHOPIFY is not interested in catering to the customer, only to their bottom line.
Agreed! Why does shopify keep making it more difficult to use the POS efficiently?????
I completely understand your frustration with Shopify's recent updates to the POS, particularly the confusing "add to cart" feature. I've been using ConnectPOS myself and have had the best experience with it. Everything is incredibly user-friendly, and they prioritize customer experience. Plus, they already offer the "save cart" feature you're looking for. If you're considering an alternative, I highly recommend checking out ConnectPOS soon
Great to know, thank you! We have been looking for alternatives to SHOPIFY for a while now. They are not responsive to customer needs and push updates without asking and remove features without compensation or explanation.
I am very happy to hear that it has SAVE CART. So much easier and FAR more user friendly than the stupid, clunky, error causing Draft Order function.
Does ConnectPOS have "PRICE OVERRIDE" feature at the time of checkout?
Also, can you organize customers and products alphabetically? Another feature incredibly lacking from shopify.
Thank you again for your information.
I agree and I must say that fully swapping the feature out VS an additive transition would have revealed the issues with the Draft Order functionality.
I have continuously reported to Customer Service the deficiencies of the DRAFT feature vs SAVE CART at length, in excruciating detail. WE just need to all continue to do this until they capitulate. They won't give us back the PRICE OVERRIDE feature and this is where i draw the line. I want SAVE CART back.
Hey, @IN_OSLO.
Thank you for joining the thread.
We have shared the feedback about bringing back the Save Cart feature with our development team. However, this isn't something that we would have a timeline for. That being said, there is a new feature replacing the price override and you can learn more about this on our the Shopify Changelog: Price after discount for custom discounts.

While I appreciate a response, it is entirely inadequate and wholly uniformed. If you had spent any time in retail you would know that sometimes prices need to be change UP, not always DOWN. So "Price after discounts" and "discount codes" are of no help and do nothing to replace the invaluable SAVE CART function.
It was shortsighted and irresponsible to remove a function so highly regarded by the USERS of this stupid program, especially without asking for feedback FROM THE USERS OF THE PROGRAM, before making the changes. I cannot wait for the new fiscal year when we can finally switch POS systems. The platitudes we receive from CS and management are intolerable and unhelpful.
I agree. I cant believe they took away the Save Cart option. Now I get a bunch of random draft orders from hold carts that end up left open and I have to constantly clear them out.
This continues to be a pain point that is unacceptable for us. There is not one day that goes by that my staff are able to properly check people out at the register. This is the sole purpose of this system. Enable cashiers to ring out people properly. The dev's for this system have gone so far into Shopify's mandate of 'create chaos' that we can't even perform this simple task. We have reverted back to writing things down on a clipboard at the checkout, like we are in the 1800's and have no technology. This is not the way forward. I hope that the continued complaints will help Shopify to focus on what the USERS need. They are 80% of the way there - if they worked hard at change management processes, they could have a system that is better than anything else out there. Unfortunately, the save cart, plus the delay in how the cart shows the total, are completely making this system go backwards in time. This was not an improvement to workflow for retailers. Please bring back the simple and easy to use, and one of the few things that functioned right - the save cart!
