I'm getting an error when trying to get the session history on my register. It says to 'Error loading session history' with a 'Try again' button but this does nothing.

 

I've tried reopening the app, restarting the device and updating the device but nothing works. The feature works on my Samsung phone.

 

The device I'm using is a Samsung A9 android tablet.

Troubleshooting Steps:

1.Check App Permissions
Ensure that the Shopify POS app has all the necessary permissions:

  • Navigate to Settings > Apps > Shopify POS > Permissions
  • Confirm that permissions such as Storage, Location, and Network Access are enabled.

Clear App Cache & Data
Outdated or corrupted cache can sometimes cause app malfunctions:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Shopify POS
  • Tap on Storage
  • Select Clear Cache
  • If the issue persists, also tap Clear Data (please note: this will log you out, so ensure you have your login credentials handy).

Check Internet Connection

  • Verify that the device has a strong and stable Wi-Fi connection. A weak or intermittent internet connection can prevent session history and other data from loading properly.

Update Shopify POS App
Make sure you're using the most recent version of the app:

  • Open the Google Play Store
  • Search for Shopify POS
  • If an update is available, tap Update

Check for Android OS Updates
Although you've mentioned the device is updated, it may be worth checking again:

  • Go to Settings > Software Update
  • Verify if any updates are pending.
  • Reinstall the App
    If the issue still persists:
  • Uninstall the Shopify POS app
  • Restart the device
  • Reinstall the app from the Google Play Store

Device Compatibility
Please note that the Samsung A9 tablet is an older model and may not be fully compatible with the latest Shopify POS features. Shopify officially supports certain devices, and if this issue is specific to the A9 tablet, it could be due to hardware or software limitations.

 

If the Issue Persists:
I recommend contacting Shopify POS Support directly. You can do so via:

  • The POS app: Settings > Support > Report a bug
  • Or via the Shopify Support website

Make sure to include the following details for quicker resolution:

  • Your store name
  • Device information (Samsung A9, Android version)
  • App version
  • A screenshot of the error, if possible
