Selling Out-of-Stock Items at POS Assigned Location with Stock Available at Another Location

Hello,

I'm using Shopify POS on a tablet, which needs to be assigned to a specific Location (let's call it Location A). I'm facing an issue where I want to sell a product via the POS that's out of stock at Location A but is available at another Location (Location B).

Currently, when I attempt to sell a product that's not in stock at Location A, the POS processes the order and deducts the inventory from Location A, even though the stock is depleted—resulting in a negative inventory count (stock goes to -1). Even if I choose the "Ship to Customer" option, the system processes the order and still reduces the inventory at Location A to -1, instead of fulfilling it from Location B where the product is actually in stock.

Ideally, I'd like the order to be split so that items in stock at Location A are fulfilled there, and items not in stock at Location A are fulfilled from Location B. However, when processing the order in Shopify Admin, the system allows fulfillment from only one Location, even if the product isn't in stock there, leading to negative inventory. While it's possible to split the fulfillment manually, the UI doesn't indicate that the product isn't in stock at the assigned Location for the items in the order.

My question is: How can I configure Shopify POS and the fulfillment process so that products not in stock at the POS's assigned Location are automatically fulfilled from another Location that has available stock? Is there a way to have the system recognize stock levels across multiple Locations during a POS sale and adjust inventory accordingly without resulting in negative stock levels?

Any guidance or suggestions on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

EDIT

I had missed the settings that allow the configuration for order fulfillment. "Ship to customer" orders made from the POS are now being handled correctly, and fulfillment is split per location. Simply needed to set the location and fulfillment rules accordingly.
