Shopify POS App with an Andriod device

Hello,

I have quite a few Christmas markets approaching and am 1st time user of the Shopify POS app. 

I was able to download the app on my Google Pixel phone (Android device). However, all of the Shopify articles state you must have an iPhone or iPad device to use the all new Shopify POS app (coming this month - November 2020). I am so confused what this means for me an an Android user. First of all, I can't tell if the app I downloaded is the new one or the old one. If I have the old version, will the app no longer work in a few days time? Second, I need to invest in a card reader for the market, but don't know if the app and/or card reader will work on my Android. 

Help!!
