Retail hardware, software, and Shopify Point of Sale
Hey everyone,
We are a new retail business building our platform through Shopify and we've been bumping our heads against the wall left and right when it comes to preparing to setup our POS system. We originally purchased a Zebra LS2208 (1D) scanner because of some online resources pointing us to the fact it would be compatible with Shopify. Long story short, nothing we could do worked to pair it with an iPhone 15 or an iPad. We had it plugged into a USB/PC combination and it was scanning barcodes and leaving data in the software, but when we tried to shift over to pairing with our handheld devices and the Shopify POS app we ended up stuck for multiple reasons. (1D printers can't scan barcodes on screens, then we tried to print the pairing barcodes on paper to no avail, etc.)
So we scoured the Shopify documentation and found that Shopify really only recommends the Zebra DS2208 (2D model) from the Zebra brand, but their website blatantly says that it's Android only. I've read conflicting things all over the internet about this brand, because Shopify makes it seem like iOS + Zebra is out of luck, but other sites reference Zebra as being iOS compatible, so I assume they would be for possibly other storefronts.
After seeing the price and quality discussed around here about the Socket Mobile devices, I'm just at a loss on what to try to pair with our POS system that would be more economical of an investment. I've seen a few people talking about NAMADOO brand which is much cheaper, but when you look up a bunch of their scanners they have Tablets and Phones crossed out on their compatibility listings.
Does anyone have any suggestions for specifically barcode scanners that will work with BOTH Shopify and iOS to setup our POS system?
The Socket scanner with the iPad is not a good option in my opinion. It connects via bluetooth and the damn thing always disconnects for me. We rely on the camera on the iPad and use it without a scanner.

While searching for answer for my problem. I came across your message. We used to use Android phone or IPAD through shopify POS application . NO extra device. It used to wok. Now we realised that it does not. Do you have a any change on your side? Thanks for sharing. This would really help me.
