Retail hardware, software, and Shopify Point of Sale
Since version 8.0.2, the POS app will now display a warning when attempting to sell an item which is listed as out of stock. This warning is a nuisance for us and I imagine this is true for most businesses. If a customer is handing me an item and I scan it at POS, clearly we have the item even if our inventory count disagrees. While I can see this feature being useful for some, I am requesting an option to disable this feature. We already have these items flagged to allow them to oversell. It seems more natural to me that if you wish to see this out of stock warning that you should simply disallow the items from being oversold.
Thank you.
Responding to the post in the hopes this gets traction with the Shopify team. Our small store sells thousands of SKUs, many of them perishable plants. The warning doesn't do us any good as our inventory is often incorrect for many of our items, which is fine since they sell quick and we don't have much of an online presence. The warning adds time to the transaction and throws staff out of rhythm - please make an option to turn it off.
+1 for making this an option. We often do pop up shops and don't transfer inventory into the pop up Shopify location as it's a waste of time but with this change, every single sale has to go through this out of stock warning which is unproductive and annoying.
We are finding this annoying too. We would like to disable this message.
Thank you for posting this, we have the same pain at the register now when this alert pops up and causes unnecessary friction. It is also confusing to new hires. Shopify: Please prioritize and implement this feature to disable the alert. We are hoping this is deployed before the busy Spring/Summer seasons begins. Thank you.
Yes!! Please have an option to remove this pesky option.
Has anyone heard if there are any updates on this? Really need this to be an option that can be selected in settings.
This notification is also a nuisance for us.
I want to be able to track sales made from different devices because I send them to different temporary locations, but I only keep one inventory, and a lot of my products are fresh and never get inventoried. Please make it possible to disable this "out of stock" notification.
