Shopify POS - Tap & Chip Card Reader

Hey, I am relatively new to Shopify's POS Hardware/System. I got lucky and was able to order my hardware for free, but my partner did not get the same promotion for their account. Which brought me to wonder if we could share the POS Hardware, under 2 separate accounts, while performing sales. If it is possible, how efficient would it be? I appreciate the help. Thanks for your response in advance.
