Retail hardware, software, and Shopify Point of Sale
Hey there,
recent ex Square customer here. I'm subscribed to the pro version. As I'm 3 months into using Shopify POS Go, there are some major declines in my efficiency with checking out customers.
The biggest one is for cash sales ! There are 4 additional steps to complete this type of sale.
1) Add teh product to the cart using my tile I set up
2) total it
3) select cash
4) HAND the terminal over to the customer to select no receipt
5) Give it back to me
6) I then have to say again no receipt
Is there a way to turn off this give to customer for cash sales ?
Thanks,
Julie

thank you. Seems like an easy fix as it was standard process when I was using square. Every extra button or step when trying to process a sale is critical...especially for business like me that sell at markets and popups.
Do you have tips enabled in the POS settings?
No, this is off. I use the POS Go at popups....it is much slower to get through cash sales than it was when I was using the square terminal. I want to keep receipts on for my credit card sales. There should be an option to turn receipts on for credit cards and off for cash sales. This was an option using the square terminal and worked for my type of business.
This new process drastically slows down transactions with no sign of Shopify addressing it 🙄 Don't know why you moved from Square to Shopify but now maybe you are starting to look for POS alternative again?
If you need a POS to integrate between Shopify and your stores so ConnectPOS is a prime candidate. They have the fastest and most easy to use system I've ever experienced! Their product and support team got 4.7 stars on Shopify marketplace you can book a demo there!
Exactly the same as with debit/credit sales.
we had been slowly moving over to shopify from square as our online store is on shopify and had trouble intergrating the inventory (plus square is unreliable. it can be working one minute and then the reader throws an error and says it is damaged and needs replacing, i cant even count how many readers we have gone through)
However, we run events with merch (hence online store), ticketing and a bar service. It works fine for merch, mostly okay for ticketing but it is terrible for the bar.
Our lines can be 30-40 people deep at any one time. It takes three times as long to get through all the steps to complete a payment on Shopify. We need to be able to input the order, customer taps and goes. We have only been using shopify for 1 month, and already looking for another option.
I moved over from Square, considering going back.
I'm curious as to what issues people were having with Square? We had Square for Retail briefly before our new owner decided to go with Shopify and I do not remember having any technical issues with equipment or the app, there were just things I would have liked to have been able to do but the app was not capable. Shopify isn't that bad but with them making changes which seem like everyday and all the connectivity issues because everything has to be either blue tooth or wireless it is just getting very frustrating for us. The online part of Shopify isn't that bad but they haven't quite figured out the POS sale end yet!
