What reliable card reader alternatives can you suggest?

Hi! We have been having major issues with our Chipper card readers. We are constantly finding them disconnected then unable to connect again. We usually do some crazy dance of turning things off and turning them back on in certain orders to get the card readers to work but today, NOTHING is working. I've made several calls to Support about this. Today's call lasted about 40 minutes and ended with them assuring me I'd hear back within the hour. That call ended at 3:30 and no answer yet, even though it's 5:30. 

We desperately need a reliable card reader system and this isn't it. Anyone use something instead of the Shopify card readers that can point me in the right direction for some alternatives? I'd like to keep it as my POS service but the card readers have been glitchy for about a month. I'm frustrated and out of patience.

Same experience here. Today they have been dropping more frequently and getting resynced is a nightmare.
