When are the Processing Fees from Shopify Payments Assessed?

I know that everyone is dealing with Fraud daily.  I've been reading a lot on dealing with it but am still unclear as to when, exactly, the processing fees are assessed?  On Authorization or Capture?

So, I finally found the right combination from Google and Shopify.   For anyone asking this question, here's the answer (as of this posting!):

Shopify Payments Fee

When you capture the payment, you're charged a Shopify Payments fee, which varies based on the type of credit card used and the location where the card is registered. This fee covers the cost of processing the payment.

You are not charged a fee for credit card authorization itself. The authorization process checks if the credit card is valid and has sufficient funds, but no funds are transferred at this stage. However, if you do not capture the payment within the authorization period (which is typically 7 days for Shopify Payments), and you manually capture the payment after this period, a 1.75% charge will apply in addition to the standard credit card fees.
